Summary

Mayo celebrated the 50th anniversary of cortisone by telling the story of its creation. The video was constructed with live footage and several animated graphics, photographs, and documents.

The Challenge

Because this video featured photographs and documents from company archives, the artifacts were often damaged or illegible. The static images needed to be displayed on the screen for several seconds while appearing attractive and interesting to viewers. All materials needed to be categorized and organized for other teams to use.

The Solution

I created most of the animated graphics and video effects and I scanned and retouched the photographs and documents from company archives. I worked with the director to select colors and typography that defined the theme of the entire project. I also authored the DVD, which Mayo distributed around its campus, and I participated in editing the video.

The Results

The Mayo Clinic featured the video at the celebration dinner for the 50th anniversary of cortisone, and the audience responded well. They also played the video in a large theater for patients and staff throughout the week. The photography and print departments used the scanned images to create giant banners and large information installations.
